RAMTHA |
||
We started the Calvary Baptist Church in Feb. of '83 in Roy, Wa. The town of Yelm was/is about 5 miles down the highway from where we are located. on sr507. We considered Yelm, the biggest of about 5 little towns including Roy, McKenna, Rainier, and Tenino, to be part of the field we were seeking to reach with the gospel message. We observed, as a proported channeler named Mz. J.Z.Knight began to build her "ranch" on the outskirts of Yelm as you head toward Lacey. I felt that sooner or later I would likely feel led to preach a message exposing her as a false teacher but otherwise didn't think much about it. Then one day I picked up a copy of the Olympian newspaper and there was a half page spread all about an interview they had given JZ wherein Ramtha was quoted as saying this and that. For instance; the second coming is simply when you come to realize that Christ is already in you, we are all gods who have forgotten our godhood, there is no wrong or evil, etc. To say the least I was filled with this thing called "righteous indignation" and says to myself, "Somebody's got to respond to that." As a result the following week I placed the ad you see at the right in our local paper, the Nisqually News. And then it started getting exciting. First of all I started getting phone calls from many people in the area. Nearly all of them warning me of the danger in exposing this demonic cult. Most of them were of the Pentecostal stripe who didn't want us getting the devil mad at us. One fellow came to our Wednesday night service and asked if he could say a few words to our congregation concerning what we were doing. I gave him a couple of minutes and he warned that we might even get burned out if we weren't careful. The calls came even up to Saturday night. Then to my suprise several news agencies called us including Currant Affair, a national TV program. (To Be Continued) 5/5/07 The television show, Currant Affair came in with their crew and interviewed me in my office. The next thing you know this was aired across the country and many letters came in, some condemning us but most of them from people who wanted to know more about Ramtha. I had gotten several of JZ Knight's books and decided to expose a lot of the false teaching she was putting out via ramtha which gave occasion for the 2nd ad and I titled the sermon, "Ramthamania!!" Several of her followers, ramsters, attended the service. One young lady in particular got very belligerent but to my surprise came back that night. I preached on, "They Worshipped The Creature More Than The Creator" and again to my surprise she came forward and made a profession of faith. But...I gave her a Bible before she left the service and before the week was up she came back with the Bible and very indignantly informed me that no way would she accept the teachings in that book because of what she had read in Epehensus five about the wife being in subjection to her husband. Beside every verse that had to do with being in subjection she had written, NO!, NO! You can see why I had some doubts about the validity of her salvation experience.. Next Week "The Wilderness Crier" writes a made up scenario called "Creative Thinking" and gets a ton of mail from Ramsters crying out for help. 5/12/07 Here it is. One day I was researching for more ammunition to use in the local battle against channeler JZ Knight vis-a-vis Ramtha and as Ramtha she/he had one of the devotees asking a question. It went something like this. "And I have this car I need to sell but if I told the truth about the condition it is in I could never sell it. Should I tell the truth or could I lie a little bit?" The answer she got went something like this, "What is lying but creative thinking?" It was then That I decided to write up a fictitious story based on what I had learned about the movement and the teachings that were going around. I had it placed in the local newspaper and they would only accept it as an advertisement as you see it so designated in a copy of the original at right of the column. I didn't want to put my own name on it as so many knew of me that they would have ignored the whole thing as another attempt by Pastor Stowe to discredit JZ so I came up with a play on words from John the Baptist who was one crying in the wilderness, I called it , "The Wilderness Crier" Before it was over I received some 35 to 40 letters from mostly all Ramsters (followers of JZ) and most all of them expressing a need for help in dealing with the problems caused them by this movement. There were a very few critical letters. In case you find the original article difficult to read her it is below. "Creative Thinking" And the demons in hell
laughed and danced with glee. Here is a copy of one of the many letters we received in response to the above article.

Personal Contacts With Many of The Letter Writers I was able to meet several of those who wrote asking for help but almost to a man or woman if you will, they had such a mindset that precluded any notions of accepting the Bible as the Word of God. Practically all of them had come from New Age type backgrounds So called "Science of the Mind", "Christian Science" and such as that. The Bible was archaic. People who accepted the plain unvarnished teaching concerning God's plan of salvation were simply old fashioned, unenlightened, fools. (Yet they were willing to accept such teaching as "the Ram" was putting out, so absurd that it was tragically funny.ie volcanoes; door ways to underground civilizations, the sun; all thought with no heat, and such.)
